Undergraduate Summer Research Program
The goal of this program is to introduce students to a variety of areas in mathematical biology that allows students to delve into depth in a particular topic.

2011

Janine Chua, a Bay Area native, is currently a second-year mathematics major at University of California, Irvine. During Summer 2011, she modeled the genetic instability inherent in cancer under the guidance of Dr. Frederic Wan, where she developed a lasting interest in mathematical biology. She intends on pursuing a career in computational biology with an emphasis in neuroscience, which stems from her curiosity to learn. An award-winning writer, she also aspires to combine her passions for writing and mathematics to author a textbook, in hopes of exemplifying the underlying versatility of mathematics.
